How to Browse the Web with Your AI Agent
Most AI chatbots can’t actually look at the internet. They might have web search, but they can’t visit a URL, read a page, scroll through it, or interact with it. Your PolymathClaw agent can.
Every PolymathClaw instance comes with a built-in Chromium browser. Your agent can navigate to any website, read the content, take screenshots, fill out forms, and extract data — all from a chat message.
What the browser can do
- Visit any URL and read its content
- Take screenshots of full pages or specific elements
- Fill out forms and click buttons
- Search Google and summarize results
- Extract structured data from tables, lists, and pages
- Monitor pages for changes
Basic usage
Just ask your agent to look at something:
“Go to weather.com and tell me the forecast for Denver this week”
“Visit news.ycombinator.com and summarize the top 5 stories”
“Check if polymathclaw.com loads correctly and take a screenshot”
The agent opens the browser, navigates to the page, reads it, and responds with what it found.
Web search
Your agent can also search the web without you specifying a URL:
“Search the web for the latest pricing of DigitalOcean droplets”
“Look up the current exchange rate between USD and EUR”
“Find reviews of the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones”
Extracting data
The browser is great for pulling structured information from websites:
“Go to that product page and get me the price, rating, and number of reviews”
“Visit this spreadsheet URL and extract the data into a table”
“Check the status page of Stripe and tell me if there are any ongoing incidents”
Screenshots
Sometimes you want to see what the agent sees:
“Take a screenshot of my website’s homepage”
“Visit competitor.com and screenshot their pricing page”
Screenshots are saved to your Files tab in the dashboard, where you can download them.
Combining browser with cron jobs
The real power comes when you combine browsing with scheduled tasks:
“Every morning at 8am, check the front page of Hacker News and send me a summary of any AI-related stories”
“Every Monday, visit our competitor’s blog and let me know if they published anything new”
Your agent browses the web on schedule, compiles the information, and sends it to you — on Telegram, Discord, or any connected channel.
What it can’t do
The browser works well for reading public pages, searching, and extracting information. It’s less suited for:
- Sites that require persistent login sessions (it starts fresh each time)
- Heavy JavaScript applications that take a long time to load
- CAPTCHA-protected pages
For most everyday browsing tasks — research, monitoring, data extraction — it works well.
